Saturday

Succulents are growing out of broken ceramics and old tins, soaking up the midday sun on the kitchen windowsill. Old books covered with dust are waiting to be re-bound for school in a week's time. This afternoon we are going swimming at Laughing Waters, which is where I sketched this watercolour a few weeks ago.

This morning we drove with Steve to work, had a play at the park with the little red car on a spring and sucked a coffee down fast on Gertrude Street then walked home in the heat to eat watermelon and hummus on sourdough. Now Casper is sleeping, the house is quiet and cool and I am sitting in bed listening to trams rattle past in the city.
